Lip Filler

Lips are one of our organs that have the most important impact on facial expression and facial characteristics. In some people, lips that are naturally thin or become thinner over time as estrogen decreases can be thickened with lip filler.

What is the Ideal Lip Shape?

Thick and voluminous lip shapes are at the forefront in today’s perception of beauty. Thick lips are preferred to make the make-up look more attractive and to have a more pleasant smile. However, everyone’s face shape and the general expression of the face are determinants of the ideal lip shape. The ideal lip shape and size for the patient is determined by evaluating the distance between the nose and lips, jaw structure, and position of the eyes. Some women’s lips are naturally thin. In some women, thinning of the lips is observed with advancing age and decreasing estrogen. In such cases that disrupt the symmetry of the face, specialist doctors determine the ideal lip shape by taking into account the person’s face shape and lip structure. Generally speaking, the lip shape in which the upper and lower lips are symmetrical and the lip looks slightly full, wet and voluminous is the ideal lip shape that adds beauty to the beauty of many women today.

What is the Content of Lip Filler?

Lip filling is done by injecting substances that already exist in the skin into the lips. Different fillers can be used depending on the structure of the lip to be plumped and the procedure to be applied. But today, the most preferred filler for lip plumping is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is present in the skin’s own natural tissue. Hyaluronic acid, which makes the lips and the lip area more visible after application, is also used in different types of fillers such as under-eye shimmer filler and moisture filler.

Is Lip Filling Harmful?

As we mentioned before, the substance used in lip filler is a substance that is present in the skin’s own structure. Except for rare cases, the body accepts this substance and does not react negatively. However, if the right dose is not injected into the right area with the right technique, undesirable results may occur. For this reason, it is very important that lip filler is applied by a specialist doctor and regular examinations are performed.

How is Lip Filling Done?

How lip filler is applied and whether pain is felt during application is one of the most frequently asked questions. Needles used in Botox and filler applications may create a false perception that the application is painful. On the contrary, lip filling is a painless procedure. Before the procedure, the area to be filled is anesthetized with anesthetic gel and the lips are rendered numb. The amount of hyaluronic acid to be applied is determined according to the volume loss in the area and the desired amount of fullness. Afterwards, the gel-like filler is slowly injected into the lips by a specialist physician. The process takes approximately 20 – 30 minutes. The patient can return to his/her daily life immediately after filling. A more feminine and attractive appearance is achieved with lip filler. After a few weeks, the treated area will heal completely and the lips will have the desired voluminous appearance.

What are the Side Effects of Lip Fillers?

There are no known, common side effects of lip fillers. The application is a simple and risk-free procedure in terms of health. However, since the procedure is done by injection, some side effects may occur. Edema and swelling, which disappear in a short time, are among the most common side effects we encounter. No additional treatment is generally applied for edema and swelling. Lips return to normal within 1-2 days. To speed up this process, the patient can avoid very hot or very cold drinks that will increase edema in the first 24 hours.

Botolinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum and related species. It causes soft paralysis by preventing the release of the acetylcholine neurotransmitter from axon endings. Infection with this bacterium causes botulism disease.

Mesotherapy is the technique of applying vitamins, minerals, amino acids or enzymes alone or usually as a mixture to the middle layer of the skin by microinjection. Bichectomy, one of the aesthetic operations frequently used by those who want to achieve an ideal facial appearance, is performed to make facial lines proportionate. In some cases, even if the person is at the ideal weight, he or she may appear overweight due to the amount of fat in the existing facial structure. The fat tissue located in the middle area of the cheeks is called buccal fat tissue. This fatty tissue, located between the facial muscles, is anatomically located in the lower region of the cheekbones and is thought to contribute to sucking functions in babies. The size of this fatty tissue is one of the main factors affecting the size of the face. With aging, buccal fat tissue generally tends to decrease.

We often use fillers called hyaluronic acid in the face area, especially on the lips. Hyaluronic acid is actually a building block found in our body that has water retention properties. When this substance is depleted in the skin and subcutaneous tissue under the influence of age and environmental factors, it causes some changes that manifest themselves as volume loss. To put it simply, with filler injections, we aim to increase the amount of this water-retaining molecule in our body.
